Jesus delivers us from wrath! (Feb 8th, 2010)
My thoughts are taken from I Thessalonians 1:10. Few people, anymore, believe that God expresses His wrath against Christ-rejecting sinners or that He even chastens His children who are born to Him through the new birth experience. But, Holy scriptures teach that even the lost sinner repents and believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ that he or she will burn forever in the Lake of Fire under God’s wrath. Now, the child of God knows by this and many other texts that he or she has been delivered from this horrible wrath to come! We need to look at the characteristics of God’s wrath. God’s wrath is not like man’s wrath which is often a sinful wrath and an unjust indignation. God’s wrath comes as theresult of an offended law, His righteousness and Holiness which is the violation of His Justice and Holiness. When sinners refuse to repent of their sin of unbelief, God has no other choice but to send His eternal
wrath upon all Christ-rejecters. God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die upon the cross thus sending His wrath upon Him that He might spare us from that wrath. But, when Christ is despised, hated and rejected, God has no other course but to cast such into the Lake of Fire following the Great White Throne of Judgment.
