Meet Jesus

We believe that God created the world and everything in it, including you, and He wants to begin a personal, one-on-one relationship with you today.

It Starts with Jesus

Everyone has an opinion about Jesus. Maybe you think He’s a great teacher or a prophet. Maybe you think He didn’t exist at all. Whatever you believe, we can probably agree that Jesus changed things.

We believe He wants to change you, too.

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. - John 14:6

Jesus claimed He knew God. No big deal, right? Plenty of people make the same claim. But Jesus also said He was God. And this upset the religious leaders of His day so much that they killed Him. But that was 2,000 years ago. Why does it matter to you now? How does who Jesus is and what He’s done affect your life now in your 9 to 5, trying to take care of your kids, paying bills, or just keeping your head above water?

God, the Creator of the universe, has a purpose for you and your life. He loves you and wants to help you because He is a good God. And because of that, His plans are better than your plans. You don’t have to measure up to some impossible religious standard to know Him. You just have to take a few simple steps.

If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,‘ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9

You don't have to be perfect. Through His death on the cross, and then coming back from the dead, Jesus took all of your wrong and gave you all of His right. If you believe that and commit to following Him, your life will never be the same. It’s as simple as repenting  of your sin (owning up to it and turning away from it), declaring you want to follow Jesus, and believing He is who He says He is.

Believing in Jesus is the first step on the greatest journey of your life. You haven’t finished the race—you’ve just gotten started. The best is yet to come!

What's Next?

If you've made the decision to follow Jesus, or if you still have questions, we’d love to talk with you about it. Plan to come to Salem Heights this Sunday, call us at 601-763-3535, or contact us through the link below. We want to help you take your next steps and learn how to follow Jesus.

Baptism is going public about your faith in Jesus and communicating to the world your heart-felt commitment to following Him. It's the next step after Salvation.

Questions About Baptism?

People often have questions regarding baptism: Why should I be baptized? What if I’ve already been baptized—do I have to do it again? Does it matter if someone is sprinkled or dunked? We'd love to talk with you about your next step in baptism. You can click here to see what we believe as a church about Baptism.

Care and Prayer

We believe that everyone can walk in freedom. We would love to talk and pray with you about what is going on in your life and help you discover your next step.

"Share each other's burdens, and in this way obey the laws of Christ." Galatians 6:2

We have people available to talk and pray with you after each service on Sunday. If you need to talk with someone during the week, please click the link below.

"Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

We believe in the power of prayer. Each week we come together for mid week prayer services to pray for friends and family in our community. You can download the most recent prayer list and join in with us as we pray.

We believe every Christian should belong to a local church and take ownership in that church. This includes serving, giving, and participating in Biblical community.

Why Membership?

Members have rights and responsibilities. We would love to talk with you about becoming a member of Salem Heights. We have a strong and unique community who have been a part of this church for years. Click the link below to start the conversation about taking the next step in membership.

Get Involved

The Church isn't a building or a location, it's people who have committed their lives to follow Jesus. The "Big C" Church is people! The best way to be a part of the Church is by getting involved in a group or a class. We encourage you to be a part of the community at Salem Heights. We believe that you should get to know the people you see week in and week out at church.

We have classes that meet every week for toddlers all the way up to senior adults. Browse through and pick somewhere to get involved! If you have any questions about getting involved or about Sunday School classes, click the link below.

Read Your Bible

The Bible tells us the truth of who God is. If you want to know more about God and His promises, reading the Bible is your next step.

Just 10 Minutes A Day

You can spare that, right? Reading the Bible for just 10 minutes a day can change the rest of your days. It will bring you hope, encouragement, guidance, and practical advice on the every day issues you’re facing. The Bible is relevant to everyone, everywhere, at any time.

All Scripture is God-breathed... - 2 Timothy 3:16

You can't have a close relationship with someone you never talk to. It's impossible. God's word- the Bible- is the primary way He speaks to us. And it's the absolute best way to discover how to follow Jesus on a daily basis. If you want to know more about God and His promises, reading the Bible is your next step.

Where do I start?

We want to help you as you begin to read the Bible or pick it back up after a long season. On Sunday mornings we teach from the Scriptures. Joining us at our Sunday services are a great place to start! You can also download the YouVersion Bible App to your smartphone with access to devotionals covering every topic. They'll even send you a text reminder!

Other resources to check out for daily devotionals and Bible Reading Plans are She Reads Truth and He Reads Truth for Biblical application, encouragement, and a thriving online community for discussion.
